The Babysitting Co is an online babysitting rental service which allows users to schedule childcare online. Cornerstone Web Studio did their website early in 2018 and when I started working there, I was tasked with building a contact form which would solve the issues of the business owner, the sitters, and the users of the service. This task was no small feat and before long, the result for which the owner sought was so complicated, I had to make several renditions of this form. Shown is only one of the final versions.. Originally, the biggest complaint was the form was too lengthy and it needed to be easier to fill out (The end result needed to have the ability to schedule up to five children and five different dates in addition to other information). My boss thought it would be best to come up with a multi-page contact form which would allow the user to fill out the contact form in pieces. Through the use of Contact Form 7 plugins, I was able to create a multi-page form with conditional logic which would guide users along the path of the form and give options to input more children/dates, as needed. This idea was apparently not fully approved by the client unto my knowledge and it was back to the drawing board. Throughout the development of this contact form, many processes were put into place before arriving at the final solution. Date pickers were added and styled instead of using input boxes. Many time selection options were tried including regular inputs, 12 & 24-hour select boxes with additional for minutes and AM/PM, and even time-pickers with different interfaces for various responsive devices. Custom widths were developed with were also responsive friendly to cut the fields into quarter widths (and eighths at one point) and to reduce height. Ever input was custom styled to match the feel of the form. Input heights were reduced to lessen the overall length. Invalid input responses had to be set in place and styled for if a user input incorrect info or left out a required field.
